Dissertation Awards for Sonja Platzer and Ewelina Orlowska

Two graduates from the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry have recieved awards for their disserations.

Sonja Platzer has received the Award of Excellence/Staatspreis für die besten Dissertationen (State Prize of the Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy for outstanding dissertations) and the 2017 Sponsorship Award for the Advancement of Science/Special Award "Water", granted by the City of Vienna Environmental Protection Department (MA 22) for her dissertation Synthesis and characterization of novel task-specific ionic liquids for heavy metal extraction.

Ewelina Orlowska has also been awarded the Special Award "Water" for her dissertation Synthesis, characterization and algal growth studies of iron complexes with aquatic humic acid models.
