The joint project of Franz Jirsa & Annemarie Oldewage (University of Johannesburg, South Africa) “Heavy metal pollution following acid mine drainage and consequent risks for aquatic environments” has been selected for support by the Centre for International Cooperation & Mobility (ICM) of the Austrian Agency for International Cooperation in Education and Research (OeAD-GmbH) within the framework Scientific & Technological Cooperation (S&T Cooperation). To intensify cooperation and scientific exchange in heavy metal research in the environment and consequences of anthropogenic pollution for biota the Austrian and South African partners will each receive a grant of € 10.000 over the span of two years for travelling expenses and living costs of eight scientists and young scientists.
